2008-2013 ESMAP Strategic Business Plan

Beginning with fiscal year 2009 (July 2008), ESMAP has transitioned to a five-year strategic business plan cycle that will better enable its management team to cultivate more meaningful, longer-term strategic partnerships. This plan is underpinned by three-year rolling plans formulated in consultation with the regional energy units. ESMAP monitors, updates and presents these rolling plans for annual review at Consultative Group (CG) meetings. During the final two years, an independent consultant, under the oversight of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG), will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of ESMAP results and emerging outcomes for consideration at CG meetings. The goal is to ensure that ESMAP’s efforts remain on target and relevant to the global challenges highlighted at CG meetings.
This strategic business plan reinforces ESMAP’s commitment to its client countries on energy security and energy poverty, including a heightened focus on social dimensions. It also introduces a new focal area for ESMAP initiatives that extends engagement with client countries to encompass the energy security, energy access, and climate change nexus.
