Home » About ESMAP

Donors

ESMAP is currently supported by 11 donor countries whose pledges are conferred at the annual Consultative Group (CG) meeting. The UNDP supported the activities of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) until December 31, 2005. TAG is currently supported by the contribution from the World Bank. It is the flexibility offered by core funding that allows ESMAP to plan its work program more efficiently and to respond quickly when opportunities present themselves.

To a large extent, ESMAP's ability to maintain access to expert skills and to "push the envelope" in new energy agenda areas is dependent upon the level of core funds it receives. Therefore, financial contributions to ESMAP are preferably received as "core funds," in freely convertible currencies untied to procurement or disbursement in specific countries.
