In FY2023, ESMAP’s 40th anniversary year, the program focused on creating financial solutions that help make energy access and transition projects commercially viable while supporting policies encouraging private sector participation.
In this 2022 Annual Report, we highlight the human impact of ESMAP’s work and the ways we responded to the polycrisis by seeking, supporting, and disseminating energy solutions that cater to the needs of those most impacted.
During this period, ESMAP focused its efforts on addressing three compounded challenges facing developing countries: the COVID crisis; the urgent need to decarbonize; and achieving universal access to electricity.
Energy is at the heart of development. It makes possible the investments, innovations, human capital development, and new industries that are the engines of jobs, inclusive growth, and shared prosperity for entire economies.
