Energy storage systems like batteries ensure an uninterrupted supply of energy - even when the sun does not shine and the wind does not blow. They increase the resilience of energy systems, improve grid reliability, stability, and power quality. They also help developing countries tackle crippling power sector deficits that prevent investments, and reduce heavy subsidies that lead to fiscal stress and further indebtedness.

This has been achieved through horizon scanning of frontier technologies, international experience and principal players, capacity building, knowledge exchange with stakeholders of client countries, and technical assistance and operational support.
