ESMAP’s substantive contributions to the preparation of this complex initiative, including the design of the Liquidity Enhancement Revolving Fund (LERF) have been instrumental in developing this project.
ESMAP has supported the preparation of this MPA through grants, including contributions from the ESMAP-associated Advancing Regional Energy Projects in Southern and Eastern Africa MDTF (funded by Sida), as well as through in-kind support.
The project received US$245.8 million from IDA. It includes a US$10 million clean cooking component, co-financed by US$5 million from IDA and US$5 million from ESMAP RETF.
ESMAP has been instrumental in developing the project with a US$400,000 grant to enable due diligence and finance preparatory activities, and a US$300,000 grant to ensure project readiness for financing.
