As part of an ESMAP funded programmatic activity, the World Bank organized a workshop in Tashkent, Uzbekistan to share international experience in utilizing and scaling up rooftop solar photovoltaics. The workshop was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, Deputy Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan and around 90 participants from various government ministries, international experts, local banks, multilateral development banks, local RSPV installers and producers.
During the workshop at the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, involving numerous local professionals representing various public and private organizations, international experts highlighted advancements in rooftop solar markets in Germany, the United States, China, and Japan.
Participants were briefed on the respective policies and incentives used in these countries. Emphasizing reduced reliance on imported gas, self-generation benefits through localized solar rooftop systems were underscored.
The workshop fostered dynamic dialogue between international and local energy experts, enriching the understanding of potential challenges and opportunities linked to rooftop solar energy. This collaborative effort provided valuable insights into the possible hurdles Uzbekistan could encounter while executing its state programs in this sector.
