Wind Resource Mapping in Zambia: Tower Commissioning Report

The World Bank (“Customer”) has retained Garrad Hassan America Inc. (hereafter “DNV GL”) to provide a validated mesoscale wind atlas for Zambia, including associated deliverables, and wind energy feasibility and development training courses. Validation of the wind atlas will be undertaken with data from eight (8) wind measurement meteorological towers installed throughout the country in 2016 by DNV GL. In this regard, the present commissioning report details all information associated with the installation of the meteorological tower, referred to herein as Mast Chanka; this tower was commissioned on November 23, 2016. A general description of the site is provided, along with the specifications of the instruments, tower and data acquisition system.
