RECORDING | PRESENTATIONParticipants learned from the experience of implementing an Appliance Financing and Productive Use of Energy (PUE) Roadshow in a community in Ethiopia. The program, developed by CrossBoundary’s Innovation Lab (CBIL) and ESMAP, delivered a “one-stop-shop” approach to tackling the three key barriers that constrain uptake of mini grid PUE everywhere: fit-for-purpose equipment, accessible supply chains, and affordable end-user finance. During the webinar participants heard about what worked and what didn’t when the CBIL team put machinery on site, ran live demos, convened distributors, and paired buyers with banks for access to credit. They also learned about the practical guide for crowding in the private sector and a pathway for REA-led scale-up: considerations for choosing sites, structuring incentives, and engaging communities.
