In this event, participants discussed the potential of peer-to-peer P2P trading in scaling up of DERs in utilities and learn more about the regulatory support and business models needed to unleash the immense potential of creating blockchain based local energy markets and green energy communities.
Participants heard about the successful deployment of blockchain technology in power utilities around the world. As an example, the India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF) and Powerledger have already executed three successful pilot projects on P2P trading of solar energy in Lucknow, Delhi, and Kolkata. Based on the positive outcomes, guidelines for scaling-up the P2P trading of rooftop solar energy were issued in Uttar Pradesh and draft regulations were issued in Delhi.
