Beyond Connections: Informing the Next Decade of Energy Access Policy and Investment
Join our ESMAP report launch: The Multi-Tier Framework for Energy Access: Insights and Impact from a Decade of Surveys.
As the global energy access community looks beyond the 2030 horizon, understanding not only who has electricity, but also the quality, reliability, affordability, and usefulness of that service has become increasingly important. Since its launch in 2015, the Multi-Tier Framework (MTF) has transformed how governments, development partners, and researchers measure energy access. By moving beyond binary connection metrics, MTF surveys have provided a more complete picture of how households and enterprises experience electricity and clean cooking services across almost 30 countries, directly informing policy, investment, and planning decisions.
The event will present the report's key findings, lessons learned, and recommendations for the future of energy access measurement. Crucially, the webinar will highlight how empowering government ownership and building statistical capacity are essential for sustainably improving national energy data systems.
Come and explore how institutionalizing granular data collection within routine national household surveys—complemented by emerging tools like geospatial analytics, remote sensing, and machine learning—can help decision-makers better understand energy access needs and direct resources where they can have the greatest impact.
