Co-hosted by the World Bank’s Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP), and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), GEOLAC is the only annual gathering of the regional geothermal market. With unique, interactive content, GEOLAC Virtual participants addressed the challenges facing the industry, showcased national projects and initiatives, and explored opportunities for new partnerships and programs to drive the industry forward.

Will the industry succeed in persuading the region that geothermal is an effective, reliable and economic source of baseload? Can geothermal play a role in re-activating Latin American economies post-COVID and responding to the need to decarbonize? Will we see significant engagement of geothermal with the extractives, industrial or agricultural sectors, and what will this mean for the industry?  

Ultimately GEOLAC serves to accelerate the development of world-class geothermal projects across Latin America and the Caribbean.
